Duane formed The Duane Zobrist Group of Companies through strong leadership and dedication to the collaborative process. These companies include:
- Duane Zobrist Consulting-Duane guides corporate and family leadership training, consulting both on and off corporate campuses in a variety of frameworks, including retreats and team adventures. Not surprising to those who know him, collaboration is one of his favorite topics. A featured speaker at the GE Capital Leadership Summit, he helped 400 top performers understand the need to guard against the enemy: internal competition. And he sold them on the concept of working toward
achieving a fully collaborative environment. - Resort Outfitters-Responding to the rising demand for outdoor activities, Duane formed a company dedicated to providing adventure activities and team-building programs to clients at 5-star resorts. A staff of 25 provides kayak trips, mountain bike tours and rentals, rock-climbing on a 50-foot tower, nature hikes, and a variety of team-building activities. Their commitment: to create memories for their guests in serene natural surroundings at the finest stateside resorts.
- Destination Solutions-Again, Duane led the way. He formed this destination management company to provide logistical support for meeting-planners and others responsible for handling g roup travel arrangements. It proved to be a solid decision because the company achieved a 65 percent increase in overall revenues in 2007. It’s clear that in making the decision to launch this business, Duane lives by his favorite expressions, quoted here. For, just as he advises others to do, he is always looking for new opportunities and new markets.

Reinventing Himself
He won’t confess to having tantrum years, but Duane did admit that he was headed in one direction and
made an abrupt U-Turn. Taking the path less traveled, Duane agrees, has made all the difference. He’s a happy guy!
- 1992─Just weeks before beginning law school, Duane decided to follow one of life’s detour signs. He moved back to Utah from Los Angeles. There, he began a masters program and cultivated friendships with several iconic falconers who lived in the state.
- 1994─Duane received his Masters from Brigham Young University.
o Falconry Academy at The Greenbrier─Duane founded this organization to provide educational experiences for anyone interested in having perhaps a “once in lifetime” encounter with trained birds of prey, including hawks, falcons, eagles, and owls. Duane obtained the first US Fish and Wildlife permit which allowed the practice of allowing participants, under the supervision of trained falconers, to hold a bird in a safely gloved hand. This was the first such program of its kind in the United States. At the same time he also petitioned the West Virginia State Legislature to introduce legislation allowing falconers to practice this ancient sport in their home state of West Virginia. The Academy also operates a program at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia.
- 1997─Duane privately celebrated as the Department of Natural Resources issued the first state falconry permit. Now over 25 individuals participate in the thrilling sport of hunting with hawks and falcons.
